Ice Skating in Burbank

The Outdoor Burbank Skating Rink is Coming Back

Downtown Burbank has long been known for its exceptionally warm temperatures during fall, making it hard to believe that going ice skating outdoors is actually a possibility. Fortunately, though, in just a few short weeks, the Rink in Downtown Burbank is going to be reopened. Those who have used the rink in years past have always given it high levels of praise. Merchants and restaurants located in downtown Burbank also benefit from the rink because it increases traffic in the area.

Emily Gabel-Luddy, a Burbank Councilwoman, says “It is one of the most delightful family events that we sponsor in the wintertime. I think that it brings a lot of delight to a lot of young people.” During the first season that the rink was opened — which lasts for six weeks — it saw more than 17,500 skaters. During it’s second year, this number increased to 18,000 during an eight-week season. Although this year’s rink season will last only three weeks, thousands are still expected to migrate to the downtown Burbank area to enjoy the rink. This year’s season will run from Dec. 10 through Jan. 3.

For those interested in visiting the Burbank rink, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with admission being $10. If you need to rent skates, you’ll pay $4 a pair. The rink will be constructed and operated by Ice America, which is based out of Los Angeles. One of the most exciting aspects about the rink is that skating lessons will be offered, and there’s also an appearance to be made by Santa.

When staying in Burbank, there are many other wintertime activities to take part in, making Burbank a wonderful family vacation destination. At Disneyland you and the family can enjoy the “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade, and you’ll also find The Hollywood Christmas Parade to be lots of fun. Universal Studios Hollywood is the perfect place to visit the Grinch, and you’ll also see a 60-foot Seuss-style Christmas tree.

Staying in Burbank is much more enjoyable when you have a comfortable and clean bed to sleep in at night. At the Boutique Burbank Hotel you’ll find an assortment of room options, including Chairman Suites, Deluxe King rooms, Pool View Double Bed Rooms, and much more. Extravagant amenities include everything from in-room mini-bars, iPod docking stations, fine Italian linens, and many more.

On your next trip to Burbank, don’t forget about the many wintertime activities to take part in. If you make it to downtown Burbank, make sure to stop by the rink for a fun-filled day on the ice.
