Best Hotel for Burbank International Film Festival
Given it’s the Entertainment Capital of the World, Burbank offers a genuine barrage of top-caliber cultural events all year long. No question that one of the highlights is the Burbank International Film Festival, which this year comes our way from September 6 through the 10th.
With a room at Hotel Amarano, you’re right within shouting distance of the festival’s venue: the Burbank AMC 16. Whether you’re sampling a day’s worth of cinematic offerings or looking to take in as much of the five-day action as you can, take advantage of our convenient proximity—and, of course, all the other perks of our 4 Diamond boutique luxury—for the occasion!
The Burbank International Film Festival always goes big, and the 2017 edition is certainly not going to buck that trend. The itinerary includes more than 150 screenings spanning a remarkable amount of territory in terms of genre, style, storyline, and more. Shining throughout is the festival’s admiral and generous focus on independent filmmaking.
Some Burbank International Film Festival Premieres
The opening-night kickoff for the festival is a world premier: The List, in which a dog trainer (Patrick Fugit) faces the prospect of a checklist of “improvements” presented him by the woman he’s besotted with.
Also enjoying world premieres during the 2017 Burbank International Film Festival are Limelight (about the pursuit of Tinseltown stardom) and Brand New Old Love (a romantic comedy about a man and woman who’d pledged long ago to marry one another if still single at 30), both screening on Thursday, September 8. And meanwhile Friday sees a pair of films making their Los Angeles debuts: the mob comedy Garlic and Gunpowder and The Last Smile, starring Danny Arroyo.
From shorts to animated features to documentaries, there’s much else on the big-screen plate at the Burbank International Film Festival; you can (and should) check out the full schedule at the official website.
And outside the stimulations of the screen itself, the festival also features fascinating panel discussions (including filmmaker and cast Q&As) and bumping after-parties, plus its own awards ceremony. Among the 2017 honorees are actresses Veronica Cartwright and Tippi Hedren as well as veteran Southern California weathercaster Fritz Coleman (recipient of this year’s Garry Marshall Spirit Award). Celebrity presenters include June Squibb, Louis Herthum, and Isaac C. Singleton Jr.
