Ice Skating near Luxury Burbank, CA Hotel
Southern California is no wintry wonderland, it’s true—one reason why so many people live here, of course, and why so many folks from other parts of the country flock here for refuge starting this time of year.
Even though we don’t offer a blizzard-ravaged snowscape, you can still enjoy lots of fun winter recreation, and that includes the all-ages joy of ice skating. With boutique luxury accommodations at Hotel Amarano here in Burbank, you’ve got some great rinks within easy reach—including one just a stone’s throw away here in the Media Capital of the World!
The Rink in Downtown Burbank
Located behind Burbank City Hall at the corner of N 3rd Street and E Orange Grove Ave, The Rink is a seasonal outdoor skating rink that, this season, is open from December 12th through January 5th. Locals and out-of-towners alike appreciate this fantastic holiday-season installation right in the heart of Burbank.
The Rink’s open from 10 AM to 10 PM Sunday through Thursday, staying open an extra hour in the evening on Friday and Saturday. Unlimited skating (without re-entry) costs $12, and skate rentals are five bucks.
On Saturday mornings, beginner ice-skating lessons are on offer at The Rink. Instructors lead a kid-oriented class from 9 to 9:25 AM and one meant for adults between 9:25 and 9:50 AM. So if you’ve never taken to the ice before—or it’s been a really long time, enough to make you hesitate lacing up those skates—consider learning or re-learning the ropes. Classes are $25 and include skate rentals and an unlimited skating session (again, with no re-entry) that day.
Ice at Santa Monica
Downtown Santa Monica has its own public skating rink to offer in the form of Ice, occupying 8,000 glazed square feet at the corner of 5th Street and Arizona Ave. As of this writing, the opening date for Ice at Santa Monica has been postponed, but it sounds like it’ll be ready for action in short order. As with The Rink in Downtown Burbank, the Ice at Santa Monica rink offers skating lessons: Thanks to coaches from the Randy Gardner School of Skating, there are classes aimed at every skill and experience level, with private lessons also a possibility.
Perched in spectacular fashion on the Pacific Ocean, the beachfront hotspot of Santa Monica is only about 20 miles from Hotel Amarano: It’s a great chance to combine some ice skating with beachgoing, the kind of one-two punch that, needless to say, many parts of the country aren’t able to deliver.
