The Return of The Rink in Downtown Burbank
Burbank, California: moviemaking playground, home of the stars, city of sunshine—but winter wonderland? Not exactly.
But listen: That’s only if you’re talking about mountains of snow and ranks and ranks of icicles, which (sorry to disappoint) we don’t exactly specialize here. But you will find oodles of holiday cheer and plenty of seasonal festivities, and—believe it or not—some Grade A ice skating!
Starting December 14th, downtown Burbank will once again be hosting its very own skating spectacular—its own frozen fiesta, its own crystalline carnival—in the form of the Rink. Right next door to Burbank City Hall, the Rink will be open daily for family-friendly winter fun through January 7th—and with boutique accommodations at Hotel Amarano, you’re but an easy jaunt away!
Downtown Burbank Ice Skating at the Rink
Thousands come to enjoy the Rink in downtown Burbank every year. Strapping on a pair of ice skates in the downright balmy winter weather of Los Angeles County—within view of palm trees, no less—is quite the delightful experience, and not at all a bad change of pace from the subzero deep freeze so much of the country tends to endure this time of year.
During the week, the Rink is open from 10 AM to 10 PM; on Fridays and Saturdays, closing time is extended to 11:30 PM. Admission is $10 for unlimited skating, and if you need to rent skates they’re only $6.
On Saturday mornings, meanwhile, the Rink hosts skating lessons for $25 (the cost includes skate rental and a session on the rink afterward).
Curling 101 at the Rink
There are other special delights in store: On three Sunday mornings (Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, and January 7th), Hollywood Curling will be showing any and all interested parties the ins-and-outs of the wondrously wacky ice sport of curling. For $15, you’ll finally get a sense for its esoteric gameplay and have the opportunity to pick up that old curling broom yoursel). (And when the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics roll around this February, you’ll be able to translate the onscreen curling for mystified family and friends!)
A Holiday Getaway with Hotel Amarano
From special programs at Disneyland (such as the Disney Festival of Holidays) and Universal Studios Hollywood (Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, anyone?) to holiday shopping around town, there are many other ways to get in the spirit of things besides the on-the-ice merriment over at the Rink. With Hotel Amarano, you’ve got the ideal luxury lodgings for it all! Come celebrate part of the holiday season with us here in the Entertainment Capital of the World…
