Things to Do in LA for the Spring
Springtime in Greater Los Angeles means an awful lot going on, and with boutique accommodations at Hotel Amarano you’re able to pick and choose to your heart’s content. Here are some of the upcoming seasonal happenings within easy reach of your spring-break room or suite with us.
LA Beer Festival (April 7th)
The 10th annual edition of this “brew-tiful” affair sees 80 participating breweries serving up a whopping 200 or so kinds of craft beer, reinforced by plenty of great food trucks. Live music, DJ sets, and (of course) a dueling piano bar supply the beer-friendly entertainment. The LA Beer Festival goes down in two sessions—noon to 3 PM, 5 to 8 PM—at LA Center Studios.
Coachella (April 13th through 15th & April 20th through 22nd)
One of the highest-profile music and arts festivals in the world, Coachella has a characteristically marquee lineup for its desert stages this year. Performers include Beyonce, St. Vincent, The Weeknd, Eminem, David Byrne, Fleet Foxes, and Tyler, the Creator. The festival grounds will also feature large art installations by such artists as Do lab, Edoardo Tresoldi, and Katie Stout.
Fiesta Broadway (April 29th)
The biggest Cinco de Festival in the country, Fiesta Broadway takes over Downtown LA with Latin American music, dance, and food to the delight of more than 200,000 festivalgoers. This’ll be the 29th year of the event, and it’s always a good time.
Wild for the Planet at the LA Zoo (April 21st through May 18th)
This celebration of the animal world and conservation comes appropriately bookended by Earth Day and Endangered Species Day. There are loads of all-ages events and activities, including special keeper presentations and animal-enrichment demonstrations. There’ll be a focus on bird-friendly native plants and the Zoo’s avian roster to mark International Year of the Bird.
Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (April 21st through 22nd)
Writer panels, conversations, readings, and musical performances make a wonderfully jampacked schedule for the LA Times Festival of Books, held on the USC campus. There’s a diverse roster of featured readers and speakers this year, from Robin Coste Lewis (poet laureate of LA), Victoria Chang, and Stephen G. Bloom to Patton Oswalt and Leslie Odom Jr.
LA Comedy Fest (May 3rd through May 13th)
Loads of funny films, standup sets, improv performances, and panel discussions—plus more than a few big names in the business—define the LA Comedy Fest, which goes down in multiple venues across town.
Whether for one of these specific events or simply a Southern California-style spring break, come join us here at Hotel Amarano!
